Is there any news on the Williams Company updating their website. They are still advetising the 400 series, they are producing 700's now.Bill produces I consider a PSG to be amongst the best on the market, but the website is sadley lacking.
C'mon Williams get this site on the same footing as many of the other manufacturers. We love your guitars and we would love to be updated on new products ect. _________________ Bennett D10 8x7 Bennett SD10 4x6 Williams D10 8x5 Dobro 88 square neck NV 112 Hilton VP DD6 Delay |

Guys, I think its a time thing, they have been too busy building Steels. An up to date web-site would just get them more work...IMHO the Willy is the best American made Steel on the market. The Anapeg is also a great Steel but very hard to get and expensive to boot. |

While a web presence is a very important part of marketing, I think Bill places his priority on his manufacturing as opposed to his web presence. With that said, I think it is important to keep his website current if he expects to remain competitive in the market. Fortunately, word of mouth is a big factor in the steel guitar world. I don't think any manufacturer would suffer much if there was no internet ( God forbid!!!!). Remember that many of these builders are 1 man operations and don't have the know-how or capital to invest in great web sites. Let's just be blessed that they care enough to build great instruments.
Now, to be a hippocrate, I think the manufacturers should put more effort into their websites. Most are piss poor as far as good websites are concerned. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I eMailed Mr. Williams, about a year ago, and he sent me some literature, concerning prices, and products. He also said he was working on "updating" the website. Great guy !!
The good side is that he spends more time with his guitars, than with his computer

Erv, Bill told me that his son is the one that is in charge of the website. I know that he wants to have as much info on it as possible including the owners manual.
Between making those fine instruments, working on some and attending many steel shows, he's spread pretty thin, and he still does have a life and home and family to enjoy.

Bill built me a couple of outstanding guitars a few years ago.
He is sooooo easy to work with.
He wants your guitar to be just as you want it.

I recently upgraded the back neck of my 400 series crossover with the new nickel-plated extrusion bell cranks. Very nice parts! I hope to upgrade the changer in 2010. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Hi Steve,
Could you post a close up of the keyless system?
I have two keyless Willies and it looks like the new model tuner system is shorter than on 400 and 600 Series...
Thanks,

I don't know if they are shorter but I do know he has a new keyless head. He told me earlier this year that they are now one piece . I would like to see a close up as well . _________________ "The Oddball" A MSA Keyless with pedals to the right. |

Here's a shot showing the tuner-it may be a little shorter than the 400/600 series. It's a one piece assembly now as well. BTW, Olli-I saw your guitar at TSGA last March and spent a lot of time admiring it. Almost got the same color, but I saw a ZB in ebony/natural and that was it for me.

I talked to Bill today about the website. His son is in the finishing stages of completing the site soon and will make an announcement on the Forum when it is ready. His son is also helping Bill make the steels, working a full time job, and then building the website.
When completed, it will be an online store where you can purchase bars, strings, picks and other steel related items.
Bill and his son are so busy right now building new guitars that they have had little time to finish the website. When the site is done, they may have to hire more people to help them build guitars.
I know from experience that the new 700 series is the best guitar yet and sounds fantastic.

Ron Lashely Sr. was on the forefront of the importance of the internet. I thought it was a waste of time. Goes to show what I know. Marketing and visibility in todays market place is every bit as important as producing the product. If I were running a steel company today I would hire the production staff necessary and would keep my seat behind the computer. |

Jack, The internet is very powerful..many people are doing their shopping on the internet instead of going to stores, many of the internet stores offer free shipping and you also avoid state sales taxes in some states..in the meanstime some shopping malls are closing..you either get with the change or go the way of the wagonwheels. |

I'll be the first to get my application in....then I can quit my FT job and do something I've always wanted to do It's a good thing Bill's shop isn't any closer or I'd be bugging him nearly everyday! |

Kevin M, About 2 years ago I spoke with Bill about that same subject and he indicated that he liked running a small shop, just him and his son.
Some people do not like the hassle of dealing with a lot of outside people...I do not know if he still feels that way. |
