Are there any mods out there for the Nashville 1000.
I'm not totally happy with it. I think my old Vegas 400 was a better sounding amp. I wish now I had never sold it to Jeff Peterson a few years back.
I have not had it apart to look at what chips are in there. _________________ A couple of guitars

The only "mod" is to replace the preamp Op-amps with Burr Brown OPA2604's like some have done with Nashville 112's (both have identical pre-amp sections).
But, I tried the OPA2604's in my NV112 and it didn't sound like a NV112 anymore and took them out. I suspect the same thing with my NV1000 so I haven't tried it. |

Thanks Jack,
If you don't mind telling me what changed in the NV112 when you changed them out that you didn't like? _________________ A couple of guitars

I think the one thing is that it made it "too clean" with the OPA2604's.
After I changed them to the OPA2604's I could not find an EQ setting that I liked. I used it on two jobs and I was constantly fiddling with the tone controls. I switched them back and bingo - the sound was back.
Keith Hilton told me basically the same thing when he tried them in his volume pedal. He is using the single Op-Amp version of the 2604 (I guess a 604) and it has what he wants for his pedals. He said he tried the 2604 (dual op amp model) and there is something different and the sound is too "sterile".
Others will disagree with me and the OPA2604 - but that's my take as both a steeler and an amp tech. |

Jack S. Correct me if I'm wrong but if memory serves the only thing I remember people complaining about the Nashville 1000 was the reverb being 2 spring instead of 3 spring and Peavy had a mod out to correct it. I had a Peavey Tech do the 3 spring reverb Mod (Peavey supplied all the parts) and since then I have no complaints. I sit my amp on the Model E-XL tone enhancer amp stand and it gives me great sound and tone. I also have the Nashville 112 but for my ear, you can't beat a 15 inch speaker for Steel plus the 1000 has the power..but I still hear people bad mouth it. |

Ken Fox has the "mod" kits for the NV1000 if you need one ! it does sweeten the amp up very nicely. _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

My NV1000 is a later model with the 3 spring reverb. But, I have a friend with an older model that has the 2 spring reverb and sitting side by side you can't tell the difference.
My NV1000 "collects dust" since I got a NV112. It has all the power I need for the places I play and with all the complements from other steelers that I get about my sound there is no need for anything else.
I don't use the reverb in the Peavey amps. I have a POD XT that I use for delay and reverb (I use the POD XT for effects only). |

John, tone is in the ears of the player. I had a Nashville 112, and then a Nashville 1000. I liked the tone better with the Burr Brown chips installed.
To my ears, it warmed the tone up a little, took the shrill out of the highs, and even helped the reverb to sound better. I used the reverb in my Nashville 1000, untill I sold it a few days ago, to buy a Tommy Butler modded Nashville 400.
