Has anyone tried the "Lessons by Troy" for reso? From the clips it seems like they would be good.

I've tried a couple and have been pleased. I'll probably buy another one here shortly. He plays the tune and then goes through the song bar by bar illustrating both the right and left hand. Video's are about 45 min apiece. $7 for almost an hour of instruction is a pretty good deal considering I was used to spending $40 for a half hour lesson.

I have 4 of them. I like them very much. Troy explains things in detail and slow enough to understand. I like the fact that the lessons can be paused and backed up to view over and over. Just try that with a teacher! ain't gonna happen. The lessons are true to the clips. They are not just hype. Troy is as good on the Dobro lessons as Micky Adams is on his youtube steel lessons, if that helps. Very Happy

Troy's lessons are to the point and inexpensive. I am going to get the beginner packages as soon as I find the extra dollars.

Tamara...which 4 lessons do you have? Just curious. I might be interested in his Open D tuning lessons.

Open D tuning - comes with a PDF file showing the notes on the fretboard (regular scale and a blues scale) and another PDF file of tabs for the 12 hot licks he shows on the Video.

Open D is awesome. I bit more difficult because you lose some of the ability to strum across the strings, but well worth it in flexability of noteing. I have not been able to spend as much time with it as I would have liked to, but I am enjoying what I have done so far.
