Would this be logical, instead using an F lever.

I don't think it'd be logical as for augmented chords you use the F lever along with the A and B pedals and it'd be hard to cover three pedals with one foot or you could use the right foot I guess.

I have seen an old Fender 400 or two with four floor pedals and no knee levers which was set up with the E to F raises on pedal one, the A pedal was on pedal two, the B pedal on pedal three, and the E lowers on pedal four. That's actually a pretty usable set up for a steel of that type....JH in Va.

If you use both feet on the pedals, then it makes sense to have the E to F change on a pedal for your right foot. b0b does this on his Fender 1000 and I'm sure some other players do as well.

I wouldn't recommend either of the "E" changes be put on pedals, unless you are going to play with two feet. A sequence of changes I (and thousands of others, I'm sure) use, is to go from a five chord, say a "D" at fret five with A & B pedals down, and SLIDE into the one chord, a "G" at fret 6 with A & F lever. If you had to lift your foot off the pedals and reposition them on another pair, you would not be able to accomplish this change quickly and smoothly. This is one of the most very basic changes on our instrument. I use the "E" changes so much, that it would be impossible for me to have either change on a pedal and still have a volume pedal.

Sierra made a guitar with toe and heel pedals with the E raises and lowers on the heel pedals. I think they made 2 of them, a D-12 for Al Petty, and an S-10 which was displayed at Blackie Taylor's shop.

I tried out the one at Blackie's and didn't like it.

Sounds simple to me, just weld a pedal on the lever that raises the Es.

I play the Emmons set-up, so; both #4 & #8 Raise (½-tone) E to F on my LKL, however; some time ago I began Raising #8 also on my (C)-pedal (1-tone) E to F# along with #4 & #5. Then several weeks ago I noticed that this (C)-pedal change is also used by Paul Franklin! So, I guess I'm not all wrong with my ideas after all! I like the change on occasion!

Great idea about raising the 8th string with the C pedal John!

My good friend and forumite Don Sowersby that plays with Johnny Bush and Johnny Rodriguez lowers his second string a full tome with pedal 0. It really works for him.
He uses one knee lever that lowers the eighth string and raises the fourth a whole tone. I think he may raise the first string a whole tone with another lever.
He does not have a "C" pedal. I have seen him do some pretty neat bar slants.
He started playing in the days when knee levers were just becoming popular.

He makes as much or more come out of that guitar than anyone I have ever met. He has got to be the most underrated steel player in Texas.

Some of you may have seen him with Bush in St. Louis.

I raise the 4th string E to F# on a pedal to get some of Moon's licks, But it takes both feet when playing the licks. Jody.

If you play a D10, put it on the 8th pedal or if you don't a D10, just add a pedal in the 8th pedal location.
