Hi all, my name is Blake Matthies and I'm a new to the steel guitar. I've been a member of the forum for about three and a half months now, and I've got to say that this site is an incredible source of information, to say the least! I attended the Sept. meeting of steel players in Apache Jct. and met some of you Az folks...looking forward the next one! Thanks to everyone for sharing so much knowledge and experience as freely as you do. |

Welcome, Blake. Many of us are too old to sell our talents anymore, so we are happy to give it away to newcomers like you in the form of pointers. Don't be embarrassed to ask any questions you wish. Steel guitar is a complex piece of musical gear and takes a lot of learning. We all remember what it is like to want so badly to be able to make those nice sounds we hear others make but not know exactly what we have to do to accomolish it. |

Welcome to the Forum.
I don't believe we met in Apache juntion but I will watch for you at the next one.
The world that you are now getting involved with is exciting, and you'll get a lot of enjoyment here and with your steel.
The folks that I've met, involved with this instrument are just great, sharing people.
I kinda wish that I wasn't a guitar player so that I could concentate on the steel to obtain the kinda profiency that the steel players here have. But these folks are happy to share what they know with us "lil" folks.
So enjoy.
Jack

Hi blake, welcome to the Forum. I have been a member for about three months and still can't believe all of the information available here thru all these great members. Haven't played for several years but am getting back into it as I can afford to buy what I need. My choices for what I have bought and will buy have been greatly influenced by the comments I get from this Forum. The "Search" part of this Forum is also a great tool to find subjects of interest. Wish this had been available years ago. Lived in the Phoenix area for about 10 years and sometimes miss the mountains and desert. Was not activly playing PSG much at that time though. To say the least, this Forum will help you make much better progress as you pursue the PSG. Watch out for the Snow Birds! Later.

Hi Blake...
Welcome to the Forum.....it is a great place,
and you will find yourself almost addicted to
checking out all the posts about what we love
most...steel guitar. Anyway, it was great to have you attend the Arizona Jam and we are planning a bigger one for January 25 and 26. There are some surprise guest players in the works, and it will be a super time. Keep watching the Forum for the official announcement. In the meantime, enjoy your steel and the Forum.
