I recently purchased a 1967 silver face, drip edge, Bandmaster Reverb head and as part of the deal the seller will pay for my local amp tech to do whatever mods I want to make the amp more suited to steel guitar. The amp will be recapped and generally gone through as well. Are there any steel guitar specific modifications I should have done? I plan to match the amp to a 4 ohm 1x15 cabinet.
Also, any suggestions for cabinet construction? I intend to use this cab with the Bandmaster as well as a dual showman, depending on wattage needs.
Thanks

-Change bias to adjustable.
-Change the very small output transformer to the Fender 50 watt with multiple transformer outputs and install a switching jack on the aux speaker to allow it to switch from 8 ohms to 4 ohms when an aux load is on it. Or go 4 ohm to 2 ohm taps, depending on your cabinets. I have also used Twin reverb output transformers as well, the 4 ohm tap becomes an 8 ohm tap with 2 x 6L6GC tubes.
-mod channel 1 tone stack by changing the 100k slope resistor to 56K
-add reverb and tremolo to channel 1 as well. |
