Thanks Danny, for a very nice post. We think of Charlie every day.
Charlie and Margit were like family for many years, and we love them.
We got to see Garfield, but miss seeing Derby in those nice pictures.
We want to wish you & Patricia, Margit, Bob, Lynn, Carl and all the rest
of our wonderful family of friends, a very
and a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Thank you so much Danny & everyone for remembering Charlie (Dad). We are doing Christmas at my home this year and Mom is doing great. We went to Christmas Eve service at our church last night and had a really great evening. Dad touched so many lives and it is so nice for us to hear how he was loved and is missed. From the Stepp family - we wish you all the Merriest Christmas and a Happy New Year (which will be Dad's Birthday also).

Thanks Danny for"The Memories", and for the great pictures.I'll always remember "HEY BUD" each time we would see Charlie or talk with him on the phone.
Charlie was always there to help anytime he was called on to do anything for another person. He was an absolute gentleman, and his first Lady Margit, made them a wonderful couple complete with their deep love for each other and the Company business. We loved them both very much. We stay in touch with Margit all the time. We loved Charlie, and we miss Him, and all of us going to the Cracker Barrell. Great Man!

Kenny - Mom did not know you had put this out in Dad's honor. She loves it! She says the song is so true about her and Dad walking thru the world together (especially since he brought her home from Germany!). She had tried to call you but your number had been changed. Thank you so much...
Ron - Mom says thanks again and she also misses Cracker Barrell with you and Leslie.......
It is so very hard when you lose someone but we know he is in a much better place and we shall all be together again soon. _________________ Derby Steel Guitar

I sure do miss being able to call Charlie and hearing him say !!! Hey Bud when u coming up to see me . Uhhh i sure do miss that man !!! I was proud to know him. I was proud to show off his guitars all over. He always treated me right and would do anything for you. He was truly one of the nicest persons to ever walk this earth. He taught me alot and I will always carry that with me. He will always be close to my heart. He reminded me sooo much of my own Dad... He left a good woman behind, I think his words of encouragement and his skills prepared her to take care of herself and not let anyone run over her and I believe it is giving her strength to finish out her journey !!
Miss ya Bud.. Love ya Margit !! i'm always a phone call away !!! |

This post with all the wonderful replies from friends and fellow players pretty much says it all for a wonderful man and a great builder of steel guitars.
Hats off to Danny for his efforts here. I talked to Margaret and I'm happy to learn that Derby will remain in business and maintain the same great quality of guitars.
I'm also thrilled that Derby will have a vendor booth at our Mt Vernon, Il show in April. Thanks to Charlie for all he has given to the world and art of the steel guitar. I was honored to have known him....Bobby Reed |
