I have a nice S10 Marlen 3floor 2knee that I'm almost done getting it up and running. All my rods are in place and ready to be set/tuned. Can anyone give me a step by step on how to tune properly, and how to deal with the raise and lower I have on a couple of the fingers. Can't find a tuning guide anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.-Thanks,Jim

Jim,
On most, if not all p/r systems...Tune at the keyhead pedals down, changer pedals up for raise. For lower is the opposite because the springs have the changer pulled to the stop point, pedals up at keyhead, down at changer. Make sure you have sufficient slack in the rods, also when pulling two or more strings they have to be on the stop point at the sharp/high note position. Hope this helps.

If it's like my Marlen, the center position has to be adjusted under the steel.
Slightly later models had a nylon tuner on the end of the rod with the spring on it

Tune the raise notes (with the pedals down) at the keyhead.

Tune the lowers with the screws on the endplate.

Now tune the center position either under the steel, or with the nylon tuners.

Richard, thanks for the excellent illustration. I always wondered exactly how Marlen dealt w/ lowers on their P/R mechanism. That's a pretty slick solution.
