I was thinking about switching to an Electrovoice speaker inside my Peavey amps(NV400,1000,Vegas). IS this recommended and which is recommended ?

Besides being a real heavy speaker, the EV magnet and frame is pretty big, and you will likely not have enough room--you will likely run into your transformer. I couldn't get it done with my LTD 400 and a Session 400. If you can remove the baffle, mount your EV, and carefully put your baffle back on, you might get it done--maybe. I do not know your particular amps, but EV's might be more work than they are worth in what you get back for your trouble. However, the EV's are awesome in an extension cab, and they are tough and efficient and loud. JBL's will fit pretty good. Maybe the new neo-whatchama-call-it speakers they are coming out with these days--light weight and can take some power.

You might want to check out the sica speakers, 15 in neo 350watt 4 ohm, a little pricey, but the info sounds very encouraging, Ken Fox talks about them on his post in electronics.
