Hello to all. First day as a member and I wanted to thank so many of you for the help you have given me with your tabs and your general info.
I have been a pro most of my life, playing and teaching 6 string and Bass, but nerve damage to my left arm has left it weak and not quite in control. Cannot stretch for chords.
I am sure you all know what I mean when I say a piece of my soul left me when I could not play anymore.
Then I discovered the contraption known as the pedal steel.
I looked in the sofa cushions and found enough change for a Carter D10. Started with the E9 and learned Sleepwalk. However, I soon became dissatisfied because I could not find the jazz chords that I have had in my head all these years. Even when I found the right notes for the chord, they didn't sound right. Wrong voicing I guess.
Anyway, I took to the C6 and I love it.
So a thanks to all, but I will single out 3
Bengt Erlandsen for his C6 primer post. The chords I was looking for in a way that I could relate to. Eyes opened. Many thanks
John Steele for his post and tab of One Note Samba. One of my favourites and a good lesson in grips.
Jeff Lampert for his beautiful version on Misty.
I have a couple of requests. I have a copy of Randy Beavers' "Vintage Steel" which I enjoy, but one of the cuts is damaged. "Wave"...it is my favourite, of course (Murphy's Law) I would gladly just buy another copy, but it does not seem to be for sale anymore. If anyone can send me an MP3 of just that one cut, I would be grateful. Or I will buy the CD if anyone wants to sell.
A very beautiful song that I have never heard anyone play on Steel is "Marie Elena"
It would be a great steel tune if anyone can work up the tab.
So, again thanks to all for the great assistance.
