If the above is the case which seems very possible, then we should honor his feelings.

Maybe Scotty can fill us in. I agree... if Buddy wants to be left alone, we should honor his wish's.

I agree with Stephen Gregory, but I have often wondered respectfully how he's doing without wanting an answer.

I want to hope he is maybe thinking of getting in his basement, working out some new brilliantly devilish
stuff, then come and knock our socks off at some point.

If not, I would some day like to offer him a firm hand shake and say thank you for knocking our socks off many times already.

What Alan said...

Buddy, if you by chance read this , thanks for the memories, for causing many sleepless nights for a lot of us trying to figure your latest lick, or phrasing.

Most of all..we wish you all the best in whatever you do, May God grant you peace.

Bill

Mr. Emmons has posted a few times in the past year or so, mostly casual stuff. But from reading related threads about Mr. Emmons since the loss of his wife, it is apparent that he is keeping a low profile. As others have said, it is best for us to honour his wishes. If he decides to re-appear and resume performing, that would be stellar. But in my opinion he should feel NO pressure at all from the forum or anywhere else to play or correspond if he doesn't feel like it. Playing steel guitar comes second to other personal matters, and sometimes you need to take a step back after the loss of a loved one - who has been your companion for most of your life - and take a breather from everything. I'd like to wish Mr. Emmons a Merry Christmas if he happens to be reading this, and I hope that life is good for him now. We are all richer for his playing, instruction, and innovations; we can continue to show respect by taking a passive role regarding his personal and professional decisions.

From what I understand Buddy has retired.
All things have to come to an end, even the good.
Buddy has given us so much and that should be enough.
I love and respect Buddy and wish him the very best.
Happy Holidays.

So you know, yes, Buddy is keeping a low profile. I believe he lurks from time to time, as we have discussed a few threads here and there.

The website isn't closing. Buddy's mail order business, Buddy Emmons Music, is. Courses and CD's will no longer be available thru the website of from his mail order business. It's become more of a hassle to do than it's worth.

The website will remain and I'll still have the Black Shirt and I'm thinking about a ball cap and a couple other things I'm trying to work out. All will take time, so be patient.

Happy holidays to each and every one of you from both of us!

Buddy reads the Forum and posts on it from time to time.

Each of us chooses how we spend our own time. In respect for Buddy's privacy I've closed this topic.
