What's your favorite Christmas CD?
Mine is George Strait's "Merry Christmas Strait to You"
with Paul Franklin on steel and the incomparable Johnny Gimble on fiddle.

Gregg Miner is the firebrand of the harp guitar community. He also has an amazing museum and collection of instruments which he incorporated into a two-CD-set-with-four-color-booklets (think David Grisman's "Tone Poems" CDs...) detailing his amazing arsenal. It's much more than steel guitars--or even vintage instruments. Not only are the instruments astounding, but the arrangements and playing are joyous and imaginative. LIke nothing else in holiday music.

Find this (and get lost in) www.harpguitars.net .

Buddy Emmons' Christmas album is one, and Take Six 'He Is Christmas' is the other.

If Take Six can't bring a tear to your eye with their 'Hark The Herald Angels Sing', then you might need to see a doctor!

It's odd - I don't have any Christian beliefs in the accepted sense, but so much of the music associated with Christmas can affect me. James Taylor doing 'In The Deep Midwinter' isn't too bad, either... Crying or Very sad

The Buddy Emmons Christmas CD is high on my list. Also, there is a group the "Manuel Family Band" who put out a Christmas project a few years ago which is fantastic.

I have two favorites: Buddy Emmons' Christmas Sounds of the Steel Guitar, and Rock & Roll Cowboys' The Christmas Album Volume 1 (Marty Stuart's band with Gary Hogue on steel guitar).

Buddy's album, "Six String Santa" by Joe Pass, "Boogie Woogie Christmas" by Brian Setzer and a track by Miles Davis called "Blue Xmas". And, oh yeah, the Chipmunks.

Buddy's album , Paul Franklin's Christmas CD (his versions of "Jingle Bells" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" are worth the price alone), and a CD by a group of Nashville session players titled, "Pickin' on Christmas".

Buddy Emmons' Christmas Sounds of the Steel Guitar!
This album always brings on the Christmas feeling, and it is "acceptable" to most anyone, also listeners who do not usually appreciate steel guitar as much as we do.

Buddy's "Christmas Sounds" is one of the "perfect" Christmas records, regardless of instrumentation- right up there with Vince Guaraldi and Bing Crosby, Tabernacle Choir et al... For Steel CD's Paul's is also fantastic.

While I must agree that Buddy Emmons' Christmas Album is without doubt, a top favorite of mine, I must say that JERRY BYRD's Christmas in Hawaii is my all time favorite.

Marty Robbins also did a really fine Christmas album. No steel guitar is to be heard on the album but the tunes are so unique and pretty.

Merry Christmas to each of you.

A great favorite of mine, my wife absolutely loves it, is The Crash Test Dummies Jingle All the Way with the Forum's own Bob Hoffnar playing some wonderful pedal steel that will get you in the Christmas mood.

I have one that I just picked up last week, and highly recommend it: "Jerry Christmas" by Jerry Douglas.

Exquisite playing and arrangements.

It would seem impossible that Jerry, who is now 53, is continuing to improve as a player - but I think this is some of the best stuff he has ever done. Cool
