Dang, I thought that place was great. Had the pleasure of opening for some greats like Merle, George Jones, Reba, Charlie Danials, and a few others.

hi dave.....i played with a band called 'the rangers' at konocti 'lots' of times, opening for acts like merle, patti loveless , trisha (bitchy), tanya tucker (very cool), poco, tim mcgraw (ick), sawyer bown, billy ray, crystal gayle, mark chestnutt and many more. we always had a good time, were received well by crowds and were treated very well by greg bennett and his staff.
the indoor theater/dining room was a great place to see people you wanted to be able to actually hear.
we always were given meals and several of the cool room/suites for the band plus $.
good professional stage/sound situation. i dug it! i'm sorry they couldn't afford to keep it alive. |

Hate to see this happen...this was one of my favorite places to play.
They treated artists and bands very well there. They would let you have bass boats and jet skis free to use-just pay for the gas.
I had the worse sunburn of my life there once, but the next day I got to hear and meet Bobby Black.
Good memories. |

yes Chris, the staff was always nice and we were indoors every time except once and indoors was my preference too. Hung out backstage with Norm Hamlett and he showed me some pick blocking he learned from Vance Terry...
Good times for sure! I guess there's a chance someone could buy it and keep it open. _________________ Dave Zirbel-

Hi Dave,
Living in Colorado now, I wouldn't get to play there any more anyhow, but it's sure sad to hear of Konocti's closing. Here's a video of playing there a few years ago with The Shannon Rider Band opening up the show for Trace Adkins. "I Feel Lucky" to have had the opporunity to play there a few times. It was certainly a fun place to play and I thought the accomodations were quite nice.

Hi Marc. I'll be playing with Shannon in the musical, Lost Highway, Hank williams in January. she's playing the role of Hanks wife. Hope Colorado is working out for y'all. Almost flew out for a gig in Denver this year!
