Do any of you folks playing Fender Stringmasters put anything in your signal path like a Matchbox 6 or other PSG-type black box? I'm thinking that these pedal steel black boxes don't really work that well with Stringmaster pickups.

I don't think you really need anything like a Matchbox in the signal path from a Stringmaster.
The pickups on a Stringmaster have relatively low OHMs when compared to the pickups on a pedal steel.
