Looking for a new bar, and maybe it'll be in my stocking. I have very large hands, and I think I'm using a 7/8" X 3 1/4" Dunlop now. What's the preferred bar of all you big-handed, E9, professional steelers out there?
Thanks,

I not going to call myself a professional steel player...just an active amateur, but I do have large paws. I am enjoying both a BJS 15/16 X 3&3/8, and the BJS 7/8 X 3&3/8 when I'm feeling frisky.
My buddy Joe (also large mitts) is happy with the BJS 10 string 1" bar, but it's a bit large for me. _________________ Emmons Push Pull, BMI, Session 400, Home of the Slimcaster Tele. |

Try 12-string length bars also. |

I use the BJS John Hughey bar and have big hands and can handle it very well. Also gives the best sound for me.
You can't beat a BJS bar. Jack _________________ Zum D10 8x5,rev pre-amp, TC M300, Split 12, n-112, IZZY, Hilton vp, Geo L, BJS Hughey, Live Steel |

Another vote for the 15/16" BJS bar. Mine arrived today and it's a perfect fit. I have used both 7/8" and 1" bars and have to say, had I known, I'd have ordered a 15/16" from the start. _________________ Clinesmith consoles D-8/6 5 pedal, D-8 3 pedal & A25 Frypan, Pettingill Teardrop, & P8 Deluxe. |

Hi Rick,
I'm entering this thread a little late, but I saw your post and became intrigued. I'll be buying a new BJS bar at the March steel show in Dallas and, after seeing a lot of posts about the 15/16" bar, I'm considering that one. How much of a difference is there in the feel of the 15/16" versus the 1" bar?
For a small guy, I have really big hands and my 1" bar has always worked well for me, but if the 15/16" is that much more comfortable, I think I may try one of those.
I'm sort of looking for something more comfortable in size (and just a little less weight) than what I've always been using.
The photo below shows how my present 1" bar currently fits my hand.
