Larry, that was "Cowboy Eddie Long". He used to play with Hank Jr., He's also done some album cuts for Kenney Chesney. He's a really great guy, too. Have known him for several years now. Thanks Bill And Hal..........
I do know Eddie from Atlanta some years back....
Just could not see him.
I thought his part of the CMA's was worth it all..I'm glad they let Kid Rock & Jammy Johnson play on Eddies part of the show.

Seems like the other two "new girl singers" Underwood and Lambert, at least sing on key,,,but the squinty-eyed one,,Swift, has always sounded flat to me,,,regardless which song she sings??
,,,and even THE MAN, George Strait seemed very uncomfortable singing the type of "country" song he sang,,,,guess he is trying to keep up with the times, but it was obviously not his comfort zone. |

I just could not watch the CMA's and I am so glad now. It sure seems a little one sided on the winners part. Thank God for Texas music and Willie's place on XM. Top 40 country sounds more like rock guitars, drummers that are to loud and bad lyrics. _________________ ShowPro SD10, Mullens RP, Bose S1 Pro, GK MB200, MB500, Bugera T50 Tube amp with SlidgeRig, TC HOF reverb effect. |

I noticed the same thing with George Strait,
both on his own song ("Twang") and the song he sang
with Martina McBride ("I was country when country wasn't cool"). Maybe it wasn't his key ???
George is usually spot on !!

My guess is they could not hear the monitors. Moving around all over the stage makes the sound production and the monitors a nightmare.
I loved Carrie's version of I told you so... she is a great talent and can sing with the best of them. Some of her other material I don't care for. You have to give them all credit they are appealing to the younger generation and selling records.
I really enjoyed watching, some of the most enjoyable performances I had the volume muted but I was paying close attention

I couldn't do it, I just couldn't watch it. I watched Taylor Swift do her first song, whatever it was, looked as if she was having some kind of seisure. And yes to the other posts, flat, flat, flat. Then I watched Kid Rock introduce something. That was it I turned it off. Larry _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

I haven't watched the CMAs since they quit being country many years ago. If I wanted to hear rock I would already have been listening to it. I doubt that it'll ever change back. There are only a couple of actual country singers left and they're being pushed to the side as much as possible. I can still hear some country on XM, but even they are playing too much crap. Sad. |

Taylor Swift=Entertainer of the year award. HAHA what a joke.
Today's so called country music=!@*# if you know what I mean. If kid rock would have attended the CMA 20-30 years ago with his dumb looks and stupid attire they would have whipped his dumb a## off stage. |

Hey Larry, Maranda's bass players' Mohawk was a sign for me to turn it off. I didn't catch Taylor's first song but I was told that it was way off pitch.
Jamie Johnson said it all when he said," I didn't think you all would let me in here!" I dig him a bunch.
George looked really uncomfortable.
Paisley doesn't impress me vocally either. |

Hi Nick,
I think you misunderstood, what I wrote was meant to be a joke! I am a die hard classic country fan to the bone. I did like the cut Carrie Underwood had on I Told you So. She can sing but I don't like much of her new material. I was defending George not being able to hear himself because he was having an off night.
To be clear, no I don't like what they have done to the CMA either. Sadly, they will do what ever to make a buck but then again don't we all?
Best Regards,
Jerry |

How can they have a "CMA" without Allen Jackson,,,George Jones,,,,Merle Haggard,,,,,and relegate Vince Gill to a glorified back up singer!!!! Let's face it,,classic country music is gone,,,, |

CMA? You must mean ABCMA. Anthing But Country Music Association. I don't begrudge anyone's success in music, but to call this XXXX country is a serious disgrace to many artists out there, both past and present. What a joke. I won't watch and would love to see anyone who really loves real country music stay far away from it. Let em have it.....just call it something different PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ Sho Pro SD10 and Nashville 400 & 112 |

this is just my 2 cents worth but when it comes to newer singers my ears are open.I really believe that true country music still lives thru the songs and voices of Amber Digby,Heather Myles, and Kimberly Murray.I myself quit following the awards years ago but these gals are in my opinion the real deal when it comes to country! _________________ fessenden d10,nashville 112,nashville 1000,peavey session 500,transtubefex,goodrich steeldriver 111,Gibson hound dog dobro,Appalacian resonator guitar.Marshall AS50D acoustic amp,Fishman Jerry Douglas imaging pedal. |

I was very disappointed in the cma awards this year and also last year. Taylor and Kid Rock, would be the blame, I guess. |
