Anybody know anything about the Recording King lap steels? I finally got around to adding a steel section to my web site. Recording King is the only member so far.

I'd be interested in what you all have to say about them. _________________ Gary Shepherd

There is a post about this lap steel and someone talks about the pickup being bad. I bought one and mine is great. Big fat p-90 style pickup that is very loud and clear. Really cool pearloid fretboard and big fat mahogany body. I love mine. I also have a Rondo SX, and the RK is out of the box a better steel. Bigger body, better pickup, cool fretboard. I kinda like the nut on the SX better, but that is minor. One thing, I bought the one with the pickup further back. If you look on ebay they have 2 models, one with pickup in middle and one in back. Strange. I chose the latter. For 140$ it is a great knock around steel. I have mine set up in Bm7 Sol Hooppi tuning. I think this is the best budget lap out there. |
