I've adapted a better but still well-worn case; the old one is now beyond salvage.
1968 ZB D-11 Scranton-made, beat OHSC. s/n 1154. Original green or faded blue/natural finish, 8 + 3 Emmons; LKL raises E's; RKL lowers E's; RKR lowers 2nd. B. Greg Jones' list of Scranton ZBs shows this sold to Ben Jack in 1968. Lotta miles since then, but it's in playable shape now. With some TLC (Billy Knowles, B. Greg Jones, Kevin Hatton, Jim Palenscar, Tom Bradshaw & their fellow geniuses) it could be even greater. I can't believe I'm even contemplating selling a Scranton ZB, but it's a bit too much for me, especially ergonomically. This steel needs a better player/mechanic. Plays reasonably well now, but someone mechanically adept enough to disassemble, clean, adjust and reassemble this will do better with this than I can. The A pedal is about as far left as it can go without being on your guitar. Someone has done some good work replacing KL hardware, but the original mechanics could do with cleanup and adjustment. C6th-neck 11th string bridge roller is ...(now MIA)...; string tension keeps it in place.) The crappy old case did a number on the knobs (only one remaining) and pot shafts. Good news with ZBs is there's a bypass switch for V/T knobs. (I reiterate all this like a blithering Alzheimer's victim below.)
Bar dings, re-glued original fretboards with Zane Beck signatures. Original (?-maybe a correct-looking replacement) CZB decal and pedal bar logo. This uses loop end rod connectors (pushbutton on pedal catch lets these slide on and off--see last photo.) I'm going to keep rod extenders unless buyer wants a 2-3" raise. One knob missing; the other is a replacement. Pots have been knocked around in the old case. I always use the direct switch setting that bypasses v/t knobs. Local/SoCal transaction, $1600 cash. (Add 3.5%for PayPal.) No profit in these prices, which are as firm as they are ridiculous. If interested, send an email: weissenben(AT)earthlink(DOT) net .
We can talk about shipping but be prepared for a punishing and withering dollar-figure for the discomfort and aggravation involved.
