Johan, will there be video streaming broadcast again or just the audio this year?

Do you have a show schedule you can post online so people know when to tune in to hear various players? That would be a good idea (especially for my family! )

Will there be any good recordings available?
The streaming does not work. Lots of interruptions.
And the sound is not from the mixing desk output, but comes from some cheap microphone hanging in the toilet. Klote!

Hi Marco, it wasn't my intention to be rude, but I was under the impression that broadcasting an event like this was designed to let everybody in the whole wide world enjoy this show. So there wouldn't be a need for an African steel convention.

The broadcast expectations and hype were built up over a period of time, and you can imagine when it doesn't happen, people might be disappointed.

So, to answer my original question: Will there be any good recordings available?

No Problem Peter, it was my first reaction
when i came home after 6 days of hard work for this years event.

you won`t believe the problems we had to face to get this show on the net at all
but as i`m told aprox 70.000 + people have listened to our show around the world

which means that all servers by steelradio.com were filled completely !!

from my point of view it has been a great job done by both parties!!!!

we`re sorry for those of you who weren`t able to tune in !!

to let everybody know what happened:
we were presented a analog phone line (56K modem) while we expexted a dual isdn 128K
thats the main reason why there would be so much buffering during the shows!!!!
for those of you who have listened we`d really like your feedback on what you have heard, the programm and how you experienced it ...
so the technical difficulties where our problem you should have been able to connect to steelradio as they had their service running smoothly !!!

thnx for your time ...

What a fun time! My thanks to Johan, Tonny, Marco, and the whole organizing team for another great show. The house band (Johan's band) is one of the very best I've ever had the privilege of working with, and all the steelers were excellent. Thank you again for inviting me back to be part of it. I hope you'll do it again in 2004 (or 2003??)

Cool pics! Did Koos play the show and/or did he say if he still plays at all? The impression I get from his brother Jelle is that he doesn't play at all anymore.

Steeldays 2002 was great for me and fellow steel players.
We started off on thursdaynight with Dan Tyack showing us how to play the blues. On friday, Joe Wright brought us back to the basics with modern right hand technique. A lot of us felt our hand muscles working that day, let me assure you! It was great because most of us were taught and using "the old" pick blocking style (thumb and middle finger). It will definitely take some time to get this down!
And what a guy Joe is: great humor, very pointed and a nice person indeed. I will never forget Mr. Awful on stage that saturday night. What an amazing speed and control of the steel guitar

Also the other players did very well. I particularly liked the sets of Nils Tuxen (he is a true master but still a modest man!), Jim Cohen (come back next time, Jim) and Sarah Jory (unfortunately I had to choose between Nils and Lionel Wendling). Marcel Parijs and Ted Tönjes showed to be two very talented steel players from The Netherlands. I have also seen Koos Biel around but not on steel guitar . I am afraid he does not play anymore (what's up Koos?)

Thanks to Johan, Tonny and all the others for this great job in organizing these Steeldays. I have been there each day and it was perfectly organized, very well done! I am already looking forward to Steeldays 2004, and I am hoping that it will turn out to be Steeldays 2003 .

No, Jim, Koos did not play but he did tell me that he may be cooking something new up with the United Steels of Europe. Stay tuned!
