A big Salute to all my Veteran Brothers and Sisters, all branches, all eras, past and present. You are not forgotten. Your contribution cannot be measured.
Special thoughts for those forum families who lost loved ones to service for their country.
All forumites now serving and with family members serving, please say Hello and Thank You for me.
To my nephew career Marine, Godspeed and be safe. Thanks to all my family members with military service. |

I'm proud to have served my 6 year tour in the Army and was called back in just as the Vietnam war was about to begin.I was one of the lucky ones that tour was up before it really got started.God Bless the Good Old USA.It was a honor to serve with all my great Veterans.I'm Proud to Fly the American flag and it is a shame I could not Fly it today because of all the heavy rain we are getting here in N.C.

| Thanks Billy for your thoughts. I too was proud to have served with the Army and in Viet Nam in 1970 and 1971. Man, that was a lifetime ago, but seems just like yesterday. God Bless America, God Bless all Veterans, and God Bless our troops serving everywhere. |

This was my daddy "Hugh Thomas (Tommy) Reed" who served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WW-II. He was stationed in Italy and North Africa during his tour. This photo was taken of him back in 1943 right after he went in. My dad passed away back in 1988 at the age of 69. Thank you to all the other Veterans as well who have protected our freedom.

We played at a Legion for the Vets in my hometown on Wed . We call it Remembrance Day here in Canada and it has really turned into a well respected day by young and old. Many of our vets are invited to the schools in the days before the November 11th and the kids really do enjoy the stories.
Once again, Hank Williams Sr' songs were the music of the day by popular demand. Hanks music just never dies and most people still know the words of his classics. |

Our "son" has lacking 3 years, 30 years in the Navy. He was in Kwait, Iraq, & Afghanistan for two tours already and will leave our family again in April for Afghanistan. This year he was home for VA day. He took a vacation day and put on his dress blues with all his medals and went to his daughter's first grade class chapel service and then to her class room to talk about being a "military man". The whole class was thrilled and had many questions for him. Needless to say his daughter was so proud. He don't know it yet but the class is making him cards and sending them to him with lots of candy hearts! We live with our "son" & daughter and I can tell you it breaks our hearts that he has to go one more time. He will go for 8 months to a year now. The little ones don't know yet but when Tim came home from Katelyn's school VA day, he was telling me about it and started tearing up. He said mom, it's going to kill me when I have to leave my family again. I don't know how I am going to do it.
Yes, they go for us into harm's way and most of the people don't even begin to understand.
I thought you might like to know how one military hero spent his VA day this year.
May God hold all of our military men & their families in His loving arms.
