Sorry to hear that we are losing Carl. I knew him well in 1945-46 when I was playing with Red Stanton on WCOC in Meridian. Carl was a nice guy and a great DJ. He will be missed by lots of folks in Mississippi.

All you said and more Roy, One of the hardest working promoters of Country music.Very instrumental in getting Jimmy Rodgers Day started in the middle 50's.I was just a kid then and was star struck with all the stars that started their careers at this event.Even Elvis. Then he formed the The Singing Brakeman International Association in the 80's.Disc Jocky, guitar teacher, promoter and most of all loved Jesus.
Roy, I met Carl the first time at the same place I met you. The American Legion Upstairs "Rat Race"
on front street. We could surely talk for hours about people back then. 45 was a long time ago.
Red Stanton, Bill Bruner, Doc Simms, Red Kent, sponcered a lot of Red's doings.)Ed Nichols, Sonny Burns Danny Holloway, Skeeter Gordon.Leo Jackson and so many more. Ain't it gonna be a rejoicing one day.
Rest in Peace Carl we'll see you one day
Doc Rickles
