Hi, John ... I saw your reference to Whatta Band and couldn't help saying a quick hello here to you ... from one old Whatta Band veteran to another!
I was with Jerry Long and Whatta Band from early-mid 1986 until March of 1990 ... and even to this day, my most fond memories of any band I've ever worked with are my memories of Whatta Band.
I posted a few of our videos on YouTube if you'd like to hear what we sounded like in that particular "Whatta Band Era" and here's a link to one of them (from 1988) ...

Anyway, please feel free to contact me ... it's always a pleasure to meet and talk with a fellow "Whatta Band" veteran. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ 1986 Mullen D-10 with 8 & 7 (Dual Bill Lawrence 705 pickups each neck)

Jim, It's really amazing that you just posted this. Just this past weekend there was very tragic news that Pamela Fay was found murdered and then burned in a mobile home fire near Bremerton WA. I hadn't had any contact with Jerry or Pamela for quite some time, but we used to play many of the same clubs and she sat in and sang with us many times. I haven't heard any more or if they have a suspect. It was strange to hear and very sad. I must have heard you play back then, but for some reason I don't recall. You sound great on that clip. The Mountain Inn, was that the same as The Outpost near the Roy "Y"? |

Jim has been a great help through all of this. Pam was one of my best friends. I have been appointed to organize the music for the memorial. It will be next Sunday at the Sons of Norway in Poulsbo, WA. from 3-8 PM. We would really like to see you if you can make it. Please let anyone you know who might be interested. I don't know if you ever see Jerry Andle but I'm sure he would want to know.
Thanks

Hi, Dave ...
Thanks for your post. Yes, Paym's passing has really hit us all very hard.
If you heard Whatta Band anytime from late 1986 thru March of 1990, then you heard me with them. I've heard that the Mt Way Inn over in Spanaway did change hands and that it's called something else now. It could be The Outpost that you were mentioning because the Roy "Y" sounds very familiar.
-------------------------
Wayne, I've started the upload of photos, MP3s and some Whatta Band .avi films to you, but I may have to finish the uploads tomorrow as I keep getting messages that read "the recipient's email has reached its quota".
Thanks again, to both of you. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ 1986 Mullen D-10 with 8 & 7 (Dual Bill Lawrence 705 pickups each neck)

Hi Jim
I remember hearing the band in Victoria many years ago, At the time I was comming in off the road and was thinking about buying a new steel as I had been using my homemade for 20 years. We crawled around under your Mullen for some time and you were most helpful in helping me make my decision to buy a Mullen. I believe we went over to Katie's afterward and had a beggars banquet. Some of the most genuine folks I ever met, not to forget great honky tonk music. I'm sorry and sad to hear about Pam. If your talking to the Longman please extend our condolences.

Hi, Ray, and thanks so much. Yes, I remember that when we were examining my Mullen. Those were some really fun days.
When I'm able to speak with Jerry, I'll definitely pass on your condolences to him.
Again, thank you sincerely. _________________ 1986 Mullen D-10 with 8 & 7 (Dual Bill Lawrence 705 pickups each neck)
