KSGA December 2009 Meeting
Wow what a meeting! Randy and I had decided to smoke a turkey and a chub of bologna and bring to the meeting as a surprise for everyone, and I made some homemade hot rolls. We wanted it to be a surprise, so I called Mom, Ruth Sageser, and Clara Houck, and had them bring side dishes. Mom brought her signature pecan pies and cornbread dressing, (wish Roy Rosetta could have been there) and pumpkin roll. Ruth brought, drinks, cranberry salad and slaw, and Clara brought some corn and potato salad and other goodies. Well, the surprise was on us, because Janet Haynes brought a lasagna, and Ray's sisters came in with a huge feast. They brought in some chili, cookies, fried pies, sausage balls, and probably other things I can't even remember. Shirley Bowan brought in cupcakes and cranberry sauce, and I am sure I am missing something someone brought. We had a feast!
Lee was able to come out and be with us again today, and was getting around much better on his crutches instead of a walker. He played bass for us today. We were glad to have Chad Jones and Charlie Barnett drive from AR. to be with us. As I mentioned last month, Charlie is a steel player who has had some health problems and has not been able to play his guitar much in a long time. He told Randy he was able to kick a song on steel guitar in church this morning. We are so thankful to have Charlie finally getting better.
We had some really special guests come by all the way from Louisburg, KS., Bill and Brenda Harris of the Middle Creek Opry, and Kansas Steel Guitar Hall of Famer Bobby DeMoss. We were glad to have them.
Congratulations to Janet and Benny Haynes, who will celebrate 37 (if I remember right) years of marriage on Dec. 26th.
On a sad note, we took a moment to remember Lynn Carney. She will be missed so much.
Our Steel Players Today Were:
Marty Neer
Ray Qualls, who also set in on lead guitar
Lee Ogle, who played bass instead of steel for us
Austin Stewart
Jerry Newberry (always glad to have my mom and dad come)
Paul Troop
Corky Davis, who also helped on lead guitar
Benny Haynes
Bobby DeMoss.....He didn't bring a guitar today, hopefully next time he will
Charlie Barnet......We look forward to when he can bring his steel
Listeners Today Were.......

Well said Dana! We're very fortunate to have dedicated members who really support our small club. Not much more that I can say except "thank you" to all who came. Ray _________________ Ray Qualls

I forgot to mention that we all need to say a prayer for Jim Sentlinger, who is still fighting the flu and for Phil Armstrong. Phil has some pretty serious health issues going on right now. Some of the other forum members might explain that better than I, but I understand he is fighting an infection that started in his foot. So please remember Jim and Phil when you pray.

Hey Clovis, we would be thrilled to have you come be with us. Tell Vivian hello for me.
Lee, Randy had you snookered. He talked you into playing bass, and he was over there eating all the food.

I swear, all that food but all those miles just don't make sense to me. I guess I live in the wrong neck of the woods.
Dana thanks for sharing the pictures and I'm glad you all had a great time, wish I could have been there. _________________ Email: azpedalman@gmail.com

We were thinking about you Fred. When we saw how much food came in, we said we should call Fred to see if he could come help us eat it!!!!!!!!! Jerry and I had a good time. It was good to see every one that was there. Hope everyone has a good Christmas.
Oh and by the way. I knew those Mullen steels would come in handy for something one day!!!!!!!!!!

We're glad the club had such a great turnout. One thing for sure Dana,..... Barbara and I wish we could have been there also. Boy, that cornbread dressing sounds sooooo good. We're sure the food was wonderful and we are living testaments, that anything that comes out of the Newberry & Stewart kitchen's is GREAT !!!. With all the great players present we know the music and fellowship was super. We're proud to be member's of this great club and very proud to part of the KSGA staff band for the show each October.
We'd like to wish each of you a very blessed holiday season and a great year 2010.
Let's remember to keep CHRIST in the season for HE'S the reason for the season.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
....Roy and Barbara _________________ Music is a "gift" with many wrappings....

Thanks Ron. We always enjoy hearing about your club also and seeing all the pictures. You guys keep up the good work. Our meetings being on the same Sunday makes it where we can't all be together, but we are, in spirit, anyway huh.
Fred, I was planning to call you and get you on speaker phone and have everyone say hello and eat some food for you, and I got busy putting out the food and forgot. Sorry buddy.
Roy, we thought of you and Barbara as we ate the dressing. We will try to bring some to Silaom Springs for ya.
Merry Christmas again to everyone!
