I thought it was Red Rhodes, but according to Wikipedia (which is never wrong Smile ) it was Rusty Young.

Yeah, classic Rusty Young.

He did lots of great studio work for various rock acts in the 70's. His snappy and crisp style with little or no bar slides used the pedals' gliss to great effect and wasn't "too country" sounding.

Check out Rusty's nice solos on The James Gang's "There I Go Again"...or Compton and Bateau's "California"... or early Rusty Weir...or Loggins and Miessina's "Long Tail Cat" and many others.
