I have been looking around for a U12 and came across this one in the honolulu craigslist, 1994 Sierra 8&5 ONLY $1300!!
It has some problems, a quote from the owner Daniel Toft: "fretboard has some wear-it became unglued- needs new double stick
tape, right side pull out for leg missing,= using screwdriver, when
upside down, right side tightener for pedal assembly unscrew all the
way off, new but larger?"
his email is: daniel3952@gmail.com
Anyone know how to get a hold of Tom Baker and what the turnaround on new custom Sierra's is? |

I decided to pass on this, because of age and problems and want to get something in better shape, my current steel has enough issues and happens to be woodgrain mica too, not my first choice
I want a 25" scale gearless U12 8&5, if anyone has a newish and or refurbed one that's easy to make copedant changes on, please contact me! olieeshleman@gmail.com
also can anyone recommend a good maker of this type?
and lastly, is a 13th string, a high A#, possible on a standard scale, much less a 25"? seems like a good idea to have that minor triad up top, but would breakage be prohibitive? |

Bump for the question I had added as an afterthought.
has anyone ever added a high A or A# on a 12 guitar?
Bill Stafford uses a second G# on top of his U14, has anyone experimented with anythings higher than that?
to my novice mind the high D# and F# aren't very useful and would maybe a bit more so with this addition, making minor triad moving to an aug triad with R>
If anyone can tell me why this is a terrible idea, besides the potential for string breakage. |

High A would work fine as long as you didn't try to raise it. I don't know of any strings that can take a high Bb on a 24" or greater scale.
The D# and F# strings don't seem useful until you understand them. Then you wonder how you ever played melodies and harmonies without them. They make finding the right notes so much easier. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
