Is that Myron Floran on the Steel? Looks familiar.I know I've seen that guy in that picture somewhere before.I might add that The Amvets is a good size club that has plenty of seating, Parking and is easily accessable from the Mass Pike.Wow the 20th Bash! Sounds like It's gonna be a gooder!! I'll be there this year, if the good Lords willin etc. It will be good to see some of my old compadres! Thanks Doug, Steve, and Ruely Jr. for setting up this combination Bash, and tribute to Bill Hankey, who has worked so hard over the last twenty years to keep the steel guitar in the forefront. This is certainly a dream coming true, to realize a close bonding of steel guitarists coming together, in preparation of the 20th Annual Steel Guitar Bash. To imagine Joe Casey, and Smiley Roberts making the trek from Florida, and Tennessee is truly remarkable. The confirmed players on Doug's list, have all gone the extra mile to develop styles of their own, and their professionalism is quickly recognized once they don the picks.
My appreciation goes far beyond ordinary bounds, as I recall many
happy memories in shows of the past.

Bill thanx to 19 years of your hard work and efforts this one falls into place a lot easier with people you helped make familiar names of themselves to all of us.This show may be put on in a different place,by different people but it's still your show Hoss.I commend the people involved for keeping it alive while you gain your health back. It's all for you. It's all for the steel guitar and this lineup has me excited.

Joe,

Thank you for the kind words. You are a credit to country music, and your selections of the music, tells me that you, and the steel guitar compliment one another. I've never heard anyone pull out those Ray Price shuffles, the way you do. I have always enjoyed hearing those songs. Your ability to work with steel guitarists, will always be remembered.

Bill,

When word got out that there will be a Mass Bash this year the calls and emails came in pouring in. Like Joe said, the show came together easily because of all of your hard work over the past 20 years.

There should be a new MSA at this year's Mass Steel Bash. A friend just informed me that his new MSA should be arriving later this summer and he wants to bring it to the show for all to see. I can't wait to see it... and maybe even hear it

It looks like I'll be able to make the Mass Bash this year after all. Does anyone know the dates of the Deerfield Fair? I'm going to try to fit it in too while I'm in the area.

Thanks for the invite Sam, but I'm stretching my vacation time as it is. Besides, what else is there to do in New England for a whole week?

Hey Jim, That's great news that you'll be able to make the Mass Steel Bash this year.

As far as the Deerfield Fair... are you referring to Deerfield NH or Mass? If it's NH you're in luck. It runs from Sept 26 - 29. Here is the link. Deerfield Mass has a crafts fair, but you're not into crafts are you?

Jim,

Thank you for making plans to attend the "MASS. BASH". It has been very exciting in past shows, watching, and listening to your performances. My appreciation goes out to the players on Doug's list, who have shown remarkable skills, whenever they perform. It will be an event to remember.

Hi Myron,

Al's not playing anymore since he had a stroke a few years ago. I played 5 nights a week with Al Cote from 1980 to 84 at the C&W Lounge in Holyoke. Dick King and Joey Baer play a lot at the Amvets now. It's one of the only places left in the area for live country music. It seems like the Vet's clubs are keeping it alive. I've heard of Ma Manning's, but that place was a little before my time. Pee Wee Gokey used to tell me about it. Forum member Hal Higgins worked with Pee Wee back in those days.

Doug B.,

I spoke with some friends in Florida yesterday. They were gathered at a friends home for a social visit. I've heard that there are a number of places down there supporting country music. Some are making plans to attend the Massachusetts Steel Guitar Bash, in Chicopee, Ma. on Sept. 19th.
