Thanks for your post. I am 51 years old and last April I had a PSA blood test and it was elivated (4.2). I subsequently got a DRE and this indicated that my prostate was not normal. I then had a prostate biopsy and I am happy to report that the biopsy came back negative. Since having this done I am now on a schedule to have a PSA blood test every six months. While the DRE and prostate biopsy is not a pleasant experience I imagine having prostate cancer is a whole lot less pleasant. The PSA blood test is simple and is a very thorough method for testing for the possibility of prostate cancer. Having gone through the testing process I can highly endorse your message.

I second the above wholeheartedly. The PSA test found my cancer early on, so my chances of a complete recovery are very good. If you are around 45 and never had the test do it ASAP. The DRE is no big deal either and is definitely better than the alternative. God and the PSA test, a combination that can't be beat.

Joe, Thanks for the article. A year ago I had problems and I was one of the fortunate ones. Since I am over 40, my doctor recommended men getting checked at 40. It could possibly save lives. Incidentially, there was no pain involved in the checkup.
