Besides impressive sound quality and off-the-chart fun factor, the app lets you try out different tunings without changing strings. Very handy.

Another incredible free iPhone app for music is nLog Free Synth. Between these two apps and my noise canceling headphones I can stay busy on those long airplane rides!

It would be REALLY COOL if it could be enlarged to a larger size on a computer screen, and if it can be sent thru an EQ/FX.

Will we one day bemoan the lack of iphone steel players?

I've got the peterson tuner on mine and i also bought the chord you can plug into your guitar. I have'nt had time to mess with it very much but it seems to work ok. It do'nt have the steel guitar preset tunings on it but may they will have an update some day.

I was wondering if they made an adapter like that. Where'd you find yours? I'm guessing maybe peterson?

"Homebrewn" glory...as big a shuck as the laughably monickered "smart" phones.

I dunno, laughably monickered? A phone that can tune your guitar, get email, has GPS, be decible meter, take pictures, record video, as well as an endless list of other apps seems pretty smart to me Very Happy I don't think we have to worry about any iPhone steelers taking our gigs away but, it's still a fun little app and a great way to kill time when you're stuck at a customer site waiting for a callback etc.

I downloaded Steel Guitar and certainly it's novel and sort of fun. After five minutes, it seemed to be a fight to get music out of it and you can't mash pedal A and B at the same time. I guess my expectations were too high? If only I could have shaved. 100+ LBS off of my session rig Wink

Great YouTube video - the application, I'm sure, is just fine and usable.

The psychedelic editing, however, on the video, is pure genius. It's too bad the phone doesn't do that... yet.

That's about the only thing it doesn't do! LOL There's even an app called bugspray that emits high frequency sounds to allegedly repel insects. I'm skeptical about that one. OK, I'll stop before this veers too far off topic and I start sounding like an iPhone commercial.

I tried the Steel Guitar app on a friend's iPhone. It was a cute novelty, but I can't really see any practical applications. Everything's easier to do on a real steel!
