As I prepare to depart this fair country tomorrow morning, I want to say 'thank you' to all the fine folks who created, supported and performed at the steel guitar festival in Bettystown this past weekend. It was an honor to be invited to play and such a pleasure to return for my 3rd time to enjoy the hospitality and camaraderie of the ISGA.

The new venue at Bettystown is definitely a large step up from the previous one (and did I hear that the Europa Hotel just burned down on Sunday night or was that a rumor?). The backup band was incredible and I thank them so much not just for a weekend of great playing, but for the time they obviously put into preparation for the show. They had clearly reviewed the charts and mp3's that had been sent ahead, had taken detailed notes and were ready at every turn. What a pleasure to play with such outstanding and professional players.

All of the steelers played excellent sets. I don't want to get into mentioning names since I'll inevitably leave someone out but I'll make one exception and say that you should keep an eye on Jay Desoteux, from France. This young fellow (a student a Lionel Wendling) has been playing for a mere 3 years and knocked our socks off. He is definitely up and coming and one to watch in the future.

Once again, my thanks to all involved in this outstanding festival. I haven't even left yet, but I'm already looking forward to my next opportunity to return.

Jim

I would also like to thank Maurice and everyone involved in the wonderful show. I really did enjoy it. I watched almost all of the players. It certainly was a great show and I agree with all your comments about the band and the quality of the players and sound too. Hope to see you again soon.
