I have a 1959 Gibson (Console Grand) Double Neck 8 Steel. I am the very frist owner of this guitar.Serial #9 1405.The wood is Korina or Maple don't no for sure. It needs all new 16 strings. This guitar is in Super Great Shape and so is the Hard Case. I played about 3 years when I was a kid and put it in the case. This is were it has been ever scene. I will try to upload pictures. I am asking 2300.00 OBO. Thanks for looking

It is a "Console Grande CG-520" and the finish is Oak.

| I have this exact guitar and all I can say is you want one too! These don't get the respect from collectors like the solid plank ones but but maaaaaaaaan, what a sound! (Now, if I can only finally find the triple neck model of this guitar that I've been wanting since the day I got my D-8...) |

I had one of the first issues of that guitar in the very early 50's! My minor disappointment was that the bridge-covers were Nickle-Plated and I had them Chrome-Platedto stop them from turning black under the palm of my right-hand! Otherwise, they seemed to be OK guitars. I believe they were first road-tested with the Pee Wee King Band and I had to wait for delivery of mine! I believe this guitar was also the introduction of the 4–8–4 Humbucking P/U! It also has a Toggle~Switch which provides 4 or 5 different tone variations! This is a very good instrument and this one in particular should be in tip-top condition! Good luck on your sale!

| I have this exact model as well - it's a tone monster. An interesting note - the body is intricately finger jointed oak. However, the bracing underneath is mahogany - probably from the Les Paul scrap pile (and those late 50's LP's now cost more than a house...)! |
