Hi Guys,

I thought I would take the time to introduce myself. My name is Scott Poley, I'm from Liverpool, home of The Beatles, England. I'm currently playing steel in a couple of bands, in particular The Good Intentions.

I was inspired to play the steel after inheriting my Grandad's George Jones, Charlie Pride and Merle Haggard records. I just love the high-lonesome sound of a steel played well. I use one of Gary Carpenters finest Rains D-10's, it's a beauty.

Anyhoo, enough about me, thank you all for all the useful tips and advice. I look forward to talking to you on the forum. Best

Scott

Scott; Welcome to the Forum !! I began to play professionally while stationed at RAF Fairford in the early sixties. I have vivid recollections of your homeland and the music of those times. You'll find this to be a fun place full of information and friendship. Hope to chat with you here in the future...

Regards, Pau; Smile Smile Smile

Welcome Scott it's good to have you here. It's good for us "seasoned citizens" to have younger people show interest in the pedal steel. Thanks for signing on. Did David Hartley have any influence on you getting a Rains?

Thanks guys, it a pleasure to meet you. Ben, I'd come across Rains on the web before I heard Dave, but boy oh boy he knows what to do with it! I have an Auntie who lives in Dallas, so I drove over to Fortworth to meet Gary and the guys at the Rains factory. Gary made me so welcome and was more than happy to discuss all of my dumb beginner questions and showed me a couple of great licks. I love my Rains! Cheers ben and paul, I look forward to chatting with you on the forum

Welcome to the forum, Scott!

Do you know the licks to "Sally G", in case McCartney comes back to town and wants to jam? Smile

A big welcome from Down Under to the forums, Scott.

This instrument really does have a habit of getting around, doesn't it?
