'73 Les Paul Deluxe that was modified into a Standard. Have Gibson parts to change back into a Deluxe ( with exception of Bridge). Plays great with existing set up, but I am thinning out the guitars. Price for guitar "as is" is $1850 or will consider trading for a steel. Will charge my cost for additional Gibson Deluxe parts. Thanks. O.B. 858 455-8618

The Deluxe has mini-humbuckers. Some were made with small pickup routings to accomodate the small humbuckers (as mine was). Some had the Standard humbucker routings and used a second bezel (pickup ring)to take up the extra space. A lot were converted to Standard with large humbuckers, but I kept mine stock. It can be converted back to a small humbucker, or p-90 model with those bezels.

Agreed. I ordered mine new in 73. It was my number one guitar for many years.

Thanks for all the feedback and especially to Lefty for his words of wisdom. The pickups here are Seymour Duncans (JBJ). You would definitely need a double ring for the mini humbuckers, if you wanted to retrofit. The cavities are enlarged and wherever it was done, it was done quite professionally. Thanks for all the interest and discussion. This guit is a looker isn't it? |

I have a '72 sunburst Deluxe that was converted to Standard - it too was routed for fullsize humbuckers. It was my first guitar in 1980, and I'll never sell it...love it! _________________ Sho-Bud Super Pro D10,Tele,Strat,Martin D-28,Korg Triton Pro,Nashville 400 |
