What is this issue with weight that keeps coming up?
Are we a group of wimps?
I understand that if you have a bad back, it is a concern or if you don't want to aggrivate your hernia but, come on guys.
I have know steelers who buy the lightest guitar on the market and then complain about the guitar sliding across the floor when they hit a knee lever.

Let me assure you that the Rains is just like the three bears story, not too light, not too heavy, it is JUST right! Very Happy

I'm guessing that Thomas lives in Germany and it might help him calculate shipping costs?Stu Winking

I'm also curious as to what steels weigh and think that Thomas has a more than fair question I personally would like to know the answer too.
As a person who has an easily strained shoulder (actually two shoulders), the question of weight is important. Often I need to ask for assistance when I use the restroom on account of my doctor advised me against lifting anything heavy. I really do have two bad shoulders.

Thank´s for your replies !

Yes, I have a back problem. Had an operation 6 weeks ago with a 10-day-stay at the hospital and then a 3 weeks rehabilitation. I don´t wish anyone such pain. So Erv, I think your reply was not suitable. And back problems are not funny.

Duncan, thank´s much for your reply. You are right, I think it was a simple and fair question from me Wink I have to reduce weight on my equipment, cause I may not carry too heavey items any longer Crying or Very sad I´m sorry to hear, that you have the same problems with your shoulders.

Stu and Jim, yeah, that are important reasons too Winking

I would be happy if someone is able to answer my question about the Rains SD 10 weight in a standard case Very Happy

Warmest regards and a nice weekend... Thomas Cool

To those who think that this is a funny question...may you never have severe back problems, like Thommy has. Doctor's orders prohibit him from lifting heavy stuff, carry it around or make certain moves so the weight of the instrument IS an important criteria if one considers buying a new one.

I have seen lenghty discussions on this forum about the color of guitars, string brands and other important things, continuing for weeks in an almost "religious" way. Thommy has asked a totally legit question which nobody should have a good laugh about.

Walter

Thomas,
I'm sorry if I offended you in any way.
I just kind of get upset when someone posts something like a volume pedal for sale and the first question is: "How much does it weight".

I sympathize with you. I've had my share of back troubles over the years. Too much operating heavy equipment, I guess.

And it seems like those cases with pedal steels in them get heavier every time I pick them up.
I wouldn't advise buying a Sho~Bud fingertip! Whoa!

Thomas, this weighs about 34lbs. It's a 5 pedal & 6 KL, with 2"s over stock in height. I no longer have the original case, but the Texas ATA case that I have for it, comes in at about 25 lbs. Glad to help.

Thomas,

I'm sorry to hear about your back problem. I've been there and done that. I had back surgery in 1991 for a MAJOR herniated L4/L5 disk. It took me out of the game for about a year. But, there is hope. I made a complete recovery, and now at age 54, I tote around a '72 Sho~Bud D10, a Twin Reverb with JBLs, a Session 400 and a Nashville 400. And, I'd love to have a Session 500. Bring on the heavy gear!

So, there is life after back surgery. I hope your recovery is as complete as mine was.

Best wishes,

Walter, my friend, thank´s so much for your assistance and explanation. It´s a good feeling to call you "friend" Very Happy

Erv, nice to hear from you again and thank you for saying "sorry". And I think, you are a nice guy (Olaf Wiese told me so) Wink

John, thank you so much for your reply. Yeah, that´s the information I need. Wow, looks great your "Rains". Looked at your My Space site, it´s nice. Is there some music to hear from you and your Rains ?

Rick, that´s a good joke, thank´s for that. And NO, I DON`T SHOOT YOU Very Happy

Gordon, thank you much for your info too.

Johnny, your kind words are good for me. I´m sorry to hear, that you had the same problems. But you give me much hope, that there is a live after back surgery. I´m a little bit impatient, because I love steel playing so much. Last saturday I sat down at my steel for about two hours and had so much fun. But carrying my stuff is far far away, I think Crying or Very sad

So, have a good time all of you and take care.

Regards... Thomas Cool
