The Kansas Steel Guitar Convention has come and gone and what a great time we all had! Three days of tremendous music, food and fellowship! All the ladies are to be commended for keeping everybody from getting hungry. Let's add Randy Stewart to that. He brought his barbeque equipment and made tremendous barbeque for us, all three days. There was a real spirit of friendship and kindness all over the place. Everyone seemed to be joyful, anxious and ready to hear the steel pickers share their talent with us. The band was tremendous and worked so hard from Friday 'til Sunday evening, hours and hours! The steel players were extremely great and Rob Parker did a masterful job as MC. The crowds were really good and receptive to all the players. We all say a BIG THANK YOU to the Kansas folk for a tremendous convention! _________________ Jerry and Venda |

We had a great time though we had to leave to get back to play our "Little O' Oprey". I appreciate being given a time slot that allows me to make it back. I heard a lot of very fine playing and had some great hot dogs and other goodies before I had to leave.

Miss Eva & I got to attend for some of Sunday's show and it was top notch as always ! I agree that Rob Parker is the all time best MC we have heard at these shows. Lots of knowledge and does not irritate the crowd with too much chatter and "commands" such as entertainers are sometimes guilty of.
Scotty Henderson "you're the man" hoss, great set and a great entertainer. We enjoyed it all very much. Great job, Baxter Springs members. Speedy recovery to Lee. |

What an awesome week of pickin, friendship, AND FOOD!!! Ladies (and Randy!) You knocked it out of the park again. Teresa and I had such a great time.We want to say thank you to the KSGA, the hotter than hot band, and a big thanks to all that bought our CDs. We sold out of "The Message" but will have more soon. And sold quite a few of our Jazzabillies CD plus Dave Owens CD featuring Leona Williams and Ferlin Husky. We appreciate you all so much and hope you enjoy the music. Congratulations to all our award winners. I was homored along with Ray and "The Shoe" to give Our big buddy Rob Parker the "Pioneer" award. Austin was givin the well deserved "KSGA Steel player of the year" award. I was especially proud of the other new award given to our Steel heros who passed on. The Legends award was so cool. Ray will post more about that I'm sure. So good to see Lee Ogle out of the hospital and headed home. He has a road ahead of him but I know his faith, family and friends will see him through it. You are truely blessed my friend don't forget that. Love ya brother! So much to say and so may to thank for a great weeked. All the players sounded great! Terry, Tyler, Austin, Jerry Great show!! Mike you're awesome dude!! I could go on for days but will just say great weekend...life is good _________________ D-10 JCH Dekley U-12 D-8 Magnatone Mullen RP Evans RE 200 profex 2 BJS bars

Well, its hard to imagine, but this show gets better every year. I want to say thanks for the invitation to play. Thanks to Ray Qualls and his staff, these folks make it so seamless and so enjoyable, and go out of their way to accomadate everyone. It's a first class operation for sure. It was great to see everyone all the old friends and to make some new ones. What can I say, we had a great time, heard some great music and enjoyed some great food. The only downer...Potato soup was gone by 10:45 Saturday morning! Arrrr!! LOL
Bobby DeMoss and his group were very, very good, and congratulations Bobby on your induction into the Kansas Steel guitar Hall of Fame. You deserve it!! If you havn't taken in this show, you need to get it on your list. Great show, and great people!! |

Wow! What a great honor as was bestowed on me on Saturday after our set by the KSGA, Kansas Steel Guitar Association in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
You know you left me speachless. In Shock and still not right.
I was and am still in complete shock to have been
inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
I wish to thank everyone in the KSGA and also wished my Daddy(Bill DeMoss of the Indiana Drifters)could have been with us to see it. I'll tell you what, I am VERY proud to be part of an organization where all its members are such wonderful people. I mean that. You know I didn't think anybody ever noticed me playing Steel at all. Its been a lot of years now so you got to know I love the Steel Guitar. I think Terry Bethel deserves something special for his contributions to our young upcoming steelers, Tyler Hall and Austin Stewart. Man he's got those two tearing it up on Steel. Awesome Job Terry. Awesome playing Tyler and Austin. Of course Terry is Terry,
what else to say except AWESOME Steel PLayer.
Thanks Guys, you have put the icing on a lifetime spent with my Steel Guitars. Fred your unconscious on that Justice steel guitar and what fat rich clean clear tone man. Lee, get well dude you need to be there. _________________ A Rig-Zumsteel 08 Anti E9th 9x10, Vegas 400's x2 Lemay Mods, B Rig-Zumsteel 99 9x10, Stroborack's X2, Lexicon MPX200's x2. |

Well I can't say enough about the show! I really think the KSGA have outdone themselves. All the steel players and singers were great. I even got a little more knowledge from how the great Roy Rosetta got started playing. I never laughed so much, Roy.Thanks to the Hanley's for remembering me with one of my special songs. I always get a blessing from you guys. Thanks to the people who were so friendly and made everyone feel at home. Thanks to the ladies in the kitchen for all the good food and seeing that I had enough water! Ray, I enjoyed playing on your set. It brought back a lot of memories. |

I feel so fortunate to get to play the Baxter Springs show. I appreciate the award my "little buddy" Austin received and am sorry I was not there for that. And Randy, you work your tail off doing all that cooking and I really appreciate you and the ladies who serve out the great food. It was good to play with Roy again and thanks backup band guys.

Just got home a bit ago, 17 hour day of driving
Wow, what a trip and what a Show at Baxter Springs.
The band was super, thanks guys.
The food was out of this world. Thanks ladies and thanks Randy.
Now I got to own up to something on the Tater Soup here. First, the recipe belongs to Dee Foster. Now I diced all the vegies (3 plus hours) but the ladies of the Club peeled and cut up all the taters, thanks girls. Bobby, glad you got a bowl of it. Bobby BTW, congratulations on the award pal, and thank you so much for your kind words on my playing and my tone, much appreciated sir.
What a weekend, thanks again to all that came, see you down the road. _________________ Email: azpedalman@gmail.com

WOW !!! what a great show. We had a great time and way too much to eat. I'd like to thank Ray Qualls, Lee Ogle and all of the KSGA organization for allowing me to be a small part of this great show. This show, my friends, is what "Americana" is all about.
Thanks again for having me and Barbara. The Good Lord willing we'll be back next year.

Thanks to Ray and crew for the great show. I understand the hard work it takes to put on a 3 day show. Thanks for letting me play, I am extremely honored that you even let me play. The week before the show I stuck a thorn in-between my 3rd and 4th fingers, on my right hand. My 4th finger swelled up to twice it's size and was numb, as was my 3rd finger. I didn't sleep at all Friday night, because of the pain in my infected finger. I had gone to the doctor on Thursday, and returned on Saturday for a change in medicine. I really wasn't in any shape to play Sunday, but I didn't want to stand everyone up. I decided to give it the old school boy try! I hope did not make a fool of myself trying to play with 2 numb fingers. At least I got a laugh out of Scotty Henderson when I made the guitar sound like a .22 rifle going off. I played Fred Justice's guitar and sound system. That guitar Fred built is without a doubt one of the best playing, and best sounding, guitars I have ever played. I have played many guitars, and I think that guitar of Fred's topped them all. Fred Justice is building one of the best playing, best sounding guitars ever made. All I have to say is--"FRED--WHAT A GUITAR!" Thanks to Morey Sullivan for driving down from Topeka, Kansas and playing bass for me. Morey was band leader for Hank Thompson for 27 years. Roy Rosetta was in the Hank Thompson band up until Hank's death recently. I have played lots of Shows with Morey and his father Don Sullivan. Don passed away about 3 years ago. Don Sullivan was in western movies and was a radio personality in New York and Kansas City. I told Roy Rosetta to kick off "Route 66" because I knew Morey and Roy had been doing that in the Hank Thompson Show. Roy, you did an interesting and complicated intro--great playing Roy! |
