Aloha Kakou,
Just wanted to pass on something cool. After some talk with my teacher, I decided to look for a doubleneck 8 string, and as luck would have it, a few weeks ago, I found a great National, (the one with the colored totem markings) on EBay. It needed a little work, (tone control and replacement of the amphenol jack) but I picked it up at Dan's Guitars in Honolulu right before my lesson this last Saturday, and I am officially in love!! The scale and string spacing will take a little getting used to, but it's all good. The sound is wonderful as well. I do a lot of my playing going direct into the board, but I'm looking forward to putting it through an amp tomorrow night. Alan gave me an arrangement of Sand, (his own) to work on for my next lesson, as the second neck is tuned to B11. From the first chord I strummed, I just loved that tuning. It is so rich and lovely. I can see myself using it on many other tunes. I'll try to post some pictures of it in the next few days, but I'm so glad I made the jump to 8 string and also doubleneck. I have a steel guitar set on the ship tomorrow night, so I think I'll be busting it out for that. Wish me luck.
