You all know the scam. I am barrister Jivas Ripoffya lawyer to the late gazillionairre, Fuller Crappa from the country of fecalia, and we want to give you 20 millions dollars. Send us your bank account etc. We've all gotten the letters.

Only this time the sender named me as the dead guy with the bucks. He said I died in a plane crash 2 years ago.

How dumb can he be to have sent me a scam letter telling me I'm dead? (Maybe I really did die 2 years ago and just don't know it?)

Pretty dumb, but maybe he thought you'd appreciate the tax break. Laughing

You mean you aren't dead? Now I'm thoroughly confused, Mike. But why in the world am I asking you a question as you have clearly told me that you are dead.
Sorry, my bad.

Nigeria must be the richest country in the world. It seems that everyone that dies there is a multi-millionaire, and the heirs can't get their money out of the country without my help.

Seriously, I've been there and Nigeria is probably the poorest country I was ever in. At least the area around Kano is very poor.

This scam is a variant of an old confidence scheme known as the 'Spanish Prisoner'. It was the subject of a movie of the same name and also one from years ago 'The Flim-Flam Man'. Anyone who falls for a scam that requires sending substantial sums of one's own money to someone you have never seen deserves the consequences, IMHO.

My daddy taught me long ago if something appears to be too good to be true, it probably IS.
