Mary and I were at the R.O.P.E. show Thursday evening and it was a great, great show. Four steel players backed up Jett Williams doing a tribute to Don Helms. They all played an instrumental each and all four backed up Jett perfectly. All played at the same low volume and each player played harmony to create an orchestra effect. It was great! The four players were Ron Elliott, Billy Robinson (both Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame members), Lynn Owsley and Russ Hicks. Don's widow, Hazel Helms were sitting at our table and she was very gratefull to the honor was bestowed on Don.
Every one was happy that Leslie Elliott received an award for her contribution to the success of R.O.P.E. since it beginning. Scotty |
