Hey; This is the one I've been watching for. I'll be there with some coated picks if the Bridge holds up at Vicksburg. Won't bring my axe but might play a couple if someone's there with a Jimmy Day setup that'll let me use it. Got something special for Billy Carr. I've Jammed with Harper, Saxton & Forentberry before at The Fisk theater in Oak Grove. Be good to see & hear them again. Andy H. Of Minden La.

Looking forward to meeting you, Andy and seeing all of the pickers again. We had a house full of pickers and singers at the last get together. Good food, plenty of folks to sit down chat with in a relaxed setting. Lots of fun. Everybody that can make it, come on.

Almost forgot, bring your guitar Andy, I think all of the steelmen I know of that'll be there are set up Emmons, including me. You can use all of my equipment, seat, NV-112, DD3 delay, Hilton pedal. I'll just unplug my guitar and you can get in my spot and set anything ever how you want it and play as long as you want. Not a problem.

Hey Jack; Maybe you'll sing a couple of Ray Price songs & let me back you & do a little fill. Be good to pick with you again. I think the piano player you're refering to is Dean(Peewee) Clark. He's down in Gonzalas or some place down south. You never know where he'll turn up. He's only been playing that Mavrick with 2 working pedals & 2 knees for a year. Ain't he amazing. Thats just born talent.
Hal; It'll be good to see you again too. Is your Coated picks worn out? I'll have some more for ya if they have. See you all Sat. Andy H.

Reid, once you get into the Magee city limits traveling 49-North, look for a BP Station on the right. Take the right just past the station and cross the railroad tracks. At the 4-way stop go straight. Location will be on the left, next block. Light green building.

This event with feature players that regularly work together at all four steel shows that are held yearly in Mississippi. Shows are held in Magee, Gulfport, Fulton and Laurel by four different organizations. There's strength in mumbers, as they say. The steel guitar scene in Mississippi is stronger than it has ever has been. Out of state pickers also attend and play regularly with us.

Great time for everyone that made it Saturday. Hal Higgins, Stevie Sanford, Bill Stafford, Andy Hinton, Woody Hill, Mitch Ellis and myself covered the steel guitar parts all day. Excel, ZumSteel, Emmons, Nashville Ltd. were the guitars used. Got to make a new friend, Andy Hinton. Great player with lots of knowledge about steel guitar. Thanks to the Garners for putting on the event and thanks to everyone that attended and played.

Hey! I had myself a ball!! These guys in Magee know how to make an old phart feel at home. In fact after the jam I got an offer of a job & place to stay. It was an honor for me to share a stage with (Mr. Smooth), Bill Stafford, Billy(the man with the Golden picks)Carr & the uncomparable Hal Higgins. Not to mention a great steeler & singer;Mitch Ellis. Can't leave out one of the best guitarist, Bob Saxon. These Guys Envented the word Smooth. As Hal said, if you missed this one, DON'T let it happen again. A thurghally happy. Cudos to Joe and his gang at the Magee Music City music store for a fun afternoon. This is the only way to have a music store-with a very nice and large band stand and seating capacity right in the store. Way to go.
Thanks for the invite and it was so good to hear all the very fine players. Hal's tone on his new Legrande was perfect and his playing matched that also. Billy Carr was the main stay of this show, as he is here on the coast for our Deep South shows. Really enjoyed Mitch, his playing and singing. A pro here, and everyone needs to become familiar with this talent. A special treat for me was Andy Hinton being there. Plays well and a very nice gentleman. Thanks for the coated National picks Andy. They will be my favorite ones in a short time. Had a great time and thanks for the nice response on my new CD.

Just have to have say this about Steve Sanford. This player surprised a lot of top flight steel guitar fans and players during the recent St. Louis Labor Day weekend show in our EXCEL demo room there. IMHO there is no better pedal steel on the market than the Superb model 12 string Universal that Steve plays. This is a new model and the tone surpasses any steel I have ever heard played by anyone in the business. The new pickup is SUPERB and matches all the quality in every respect to the quality of the design and manufacture that Mitsuo Fujii puts into his pedal steels. None better.
It was also noted that Steve did not have to even tweak the tuning when he took it out of the case and inserted it on the band stand. (Mine works that same way too). Glad to see and hear Steve at this show.
