Bob Dunn was popular far before my time but his
name keeps croppin' up here on the Forum. With
the group called Milton Brown And His Musical Brownies Bob did this instrumental called "Takin Off"

His style was a mixture of Jazz and Hawaiian as
you can detect several Island "licks" in his
playing at this particular time in his career.
Not easy to transcribe as I found out. The chord pattern alone was a challenge.

I have a lesson and a slow down MP3 with Tablature
for any who wish to learn this tune. Email me for
information: roythomson@eastlink.ca
Link to Takin" Off, early Western Swing.
After you clic on the link just wait a few seconds
and the MP3 will play automatically.

Are you sure that was Bob Dunn. I don't remember him playing that smooth or with some Hawaiian style mixed in. In recordings I've heard with Milton Brown his playing was very choppy with hardly any substain

Billy, that's Roy playing Bob's solo. Nice job there, Roy. You definitely did accentuate the Hawaiian aspect.
