Congratulations to Roger Trahan for winning the MCMAA, (Massechusets Country Music Awards Association), Steel Guitar Player of the Year Award, at the Mass Annual Show in N. Randolph on Sept. 28th. It is 2009 "grand slam" for a very deserving picker who also won the Rhode Island Steel Award on April 5, 2009. It is his long overdue 1st time for both states, and in the same year.

I am in big trouble. I forgot to mention RISGA`s other two winners. Eddie Cunningham,(The Old Geezer), won the Mandolin/Dobro/Banjo Player of the Year. Elaine Ellis won Bass Player of the Year for the 2nd year in a row. She also won R.I. Bass Player of the Year on April 5, 2009. She won R.I. RICH "Eddy Zack" Award on April 26, 2009. She is nominated for the R.I. CMA Hall of Fame. We will know the results on Oct. 12, 2009. How could I forget two people so dear to me? Eddie, I apologize, and it`s a good thing Elaine dosen`t read the "Steel Guitar Forum". Don`t tell her!!

That smooth style of yours deserves steel player of every year! Congrats. Don't put the trophy on top of the pellet stove!

Congratulations Roger you deserve that award for all your hard work and great Steel playing.
HUMMMMMM Manny what are you going to give me not to tell Elaine.Tony might forget but I won't.I went to the VA for Blood work and for some reson I said to myself let me call Anna. I called and I said how are you doing and she said not good. I said what is wrong and she said I fell over the Swivle Rocker and landed on her left hip. I call our Neighbor frind And she took Anna to the Emergency Room she did not break it thank God for that but it swelling a little. She can't walk to good. WE are going Sunday to Buy a home in N.C..Hope she is going to be OK to travel. We will be back in time for the RISGA Steel Show. I have to try to remember how to get there.

I do believe that every person nominated for this award was just as deserving as I was. It helps to be playing almost every weekend, people out there remember you better when they've just seen you. I do consider this a great honor and was totally suprised. We all play for the love of this instrument but it's always reassuring to know that people love what were doing. From the bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you. God Bless Roger [b]

Do any of you in that area know of a big ole redneck boy from Missouri named Leon Jimmy Davis? He moved from mid-Missouri many years ago and over time we've lost track of him. If you do, please give me an email. Thanks. Congratulations, Roger.

My sincere congratulations Roger! You certainly deserve all the awards you have received for your support of steel and your ability to perform on it in a professional manner. Playing steel guitar is mostly a labor of love for all of us.

And here's the famous guy himself, playing his vintage MSA double neck at one of our RISGA meetings.
