This has been posted on a few other guitar sites, but I thought some here may have comments or a view point on it.

Now if the peghead looks a little off and it looks like a set neck instead of a bolt on, that because it is. Jimi's estate (step sister) sold the rights to Gibson to produce a line of cheep Asian built guitars with the "Hendrix" name on them. There are three packages from about $280 to $499 that include a guitar, Hendrix inspired strap, pick, amp, and all that fun stuff,

Kind of strange that a company who sues everyone that comes close to building a guitar that looks like a Les Paul, or anyone who says the word "Dobro®" when not referring to a Gibson, and now they are build a "Hendrix" strat!

The link to the "Jimi Hendrix line" on Gibson's main page isn't working right now but here are a couple of other links to check out.
Gibson Lifestyle Page
Hendrix line part of Gibson corp

Gibson electric brands this is the main Gibson electric page with the "Jimi Hendrix" brand link, but right now it doesn't seem to be working.

It ain't a Strat, and IMHO it just goes to show the vacuousness of, e.g., that Gibson lawsuit against PRS. But they lost that lawsuit for good reason, and this shows why.

Just another annoying attempt to cash in on the life and soul of Jimi Hendrix, nothin' new there. Life will go on. I'll bet this project crashes ignominiously, but who knows - in a music world littered with crap like Guitar Hero, anything is possible. Still, this sorta' reminds me more of Hannah Montana lunch boxes than anything serious about guitars.

All IMHO, naturally.

She's the one promoting the bling.

The Gibson lifestyle page showed guitars that were very different from those pics. The lifestyle version has set neck, rear loaded controls, large rear route(whammy?), neck cut for locking nut, etc.

Not to be confused with Fender's 1990s Jimi Hendrix Tribute Strat, with the hardware on "the wrong side" and reverse body for that flipped-over look of a lefty playing a right-handed guitar, as Jimi did. Winking

Then comes the video of the kid at the rail stop playing the guts out of the cheapest model thru a MicroCube and making it sound like a million $...

If these guitars are anything above junk and provides the means for even one person to have an interest in music, not to mention Jimi Hendrix(!), I say sell 'em by the truckloads!

It's going to be a complete line of guitars from the entry level $200 kit(with amp and bandanna) to the set neck Gibson built $3000+ models.

The Hendrix Stratson or Gibbocaster or whatever the hell it was, has now been officially "disappeared" from Gibson's website.... Mr. Green

And Janie Hendrix has renounced her step-brother's money and re-dedicated her life to Tezcatlipoca, the Horned Jaguar God of Darkness.... Alien Alien Alien

This is going to be HUGE among ten year olds. I hope the guitars are decent and not pieces of junk.

Well remember, the main reason this piano is so expensive is that it's a actually right handed one that you can still play left-handed. A nice Hendrix-like touch. Rolling Eyes

The truth behind the Baldwin piano is out. It was created in tribute to Jimi's fine piano work in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nayarBrD6mk

The official Jimi Hendrix fiddle shouldn't be too far behind.

Also coming soon from the Hendrix Bluegrass collection:

Who'll be the first to buy it, play it, and then light it afire and smash it to bits for the crowd?
