Here's a little quiz Very Happy

What's this chord called, and which song was it on.
It had a lot of guitarists scratching their heads, trying to learn it by ear from the vinyl.

Top to bottom, regular guitar tuning:
E (open)
B (open)
A (2nd fret)
D (open)
A (open)
F# (2nd fret)

Looks like a D6/9 to me. It could be in, "Stompin' at the Savoy," if you were to play that in D.

Richard --
That looks and sounds like it could be the 2nd chord of America's Horse With No Name following the Em.
If that's not what they play, it could probably be a decent substitute.

Richard,
I just noticed you want to see what name people call it.
Casually, I would just say it's a variation of "D" with a low 3rd on the bass. It's like a combo of Em & D together but without the G note.
I guess if I had to come up with a legal name I would guess D6add2.
