I ran into Kay this past weekend at the 8th Annual Southern California Ukulele Festival where I was performing. Kay stopped by Pete Kahele's beginning Hawaiian Steel workshop where he played a few tunes and also told me about this recording he just finished.

A week ago, an old friend of mine, Edlyn de Souza whom I had not met in 45 years, stopped by on his way home to Toronto from San Francisco
( a little detour for old time's sake). This was the result of an evening's recordings, warts and all. Edlyn and I used to play in his Dad, Edmund de Souza's dance band every other Saturday as I remember. I used to play bass/rhythm guitar, Edlyn on piano in the band. "Song of India" was our signature tune. It is, of course, Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Kosakov's composition made famous by the Tommy Dorsey band in the 1930s.
Instruments used: Roland E-09 keyboard sampler and West Coast C6 steel guitar. Key of C. |
