This set is interesting in that I've never seen a Bakelite B6 lap steel with this logo.

Link to auction on eBay.

My take is this B6 lap steel and Rick amp was probably bought together or at least in the same era.

My first question is; in what years was this guitar and amp logo used?

The second question is; is this amplifier a valuable Rick collectible?
The lap steel might be worth $800-$900 in today's market.

My take is that it's probably ca. 1955 or a bit later.

The Ebay listing leads you to believe that it's 1948. That's obviously wrong, as the logo wasn't used on lap steels before at least 1955, and the pot code could also mean 1958 or according to some sources 1968.

What it is?

One of our Hawaiian members here has one with that logo plate. It's a seven string, and had a plastic thing to resemble a pick-up on it,with a "normal" pickup under it. He (Derrick Mau) figures it's a logo plate for a console. Like Rick was using up left-over parts near the end of production.
I did some work on it, including a real 1 1/2 " horseshoe pickup.
That guitar appears to have had the plates chromed, and the horseshoe installed by someone. (??)

Bakelites were listed in the pricelists thru the 1960's. Those logos were typically early 60's.My guess is late 60's for the set.

FWIW, they were still using the grey 'wallpaper' covering on amps in '58. The silver tolex came in the early 60's. And i'm real sure they didn't make that model amp until the 60's. The cabinet style is 60's as well.

The only thing I see that could possible make it a late ‘40’s to early ‘50’s is the metal tail piece. Didn’t they go back to “strings thru body” around 1953?
Or could they have resurrected that tailpiece in the '60's?
Confused

Make ya wonder. I believe they used what ever parts they had. Maybe the tail pieces ran out, like logo plates Very Happy
