Sorry for the fuzzy pic, camera way too complicated for me. This is a 4 X 4, the armrest is just sitting on there, it will have a black one. Laquer still needs to be buffed out. Sounds real good. 4 th. pedal lowers 5 and 10, I dont like a vetiical. Martin.

Holy mackerel, Martin, you did it again. Absolutely stunning work. It'll be even more stunning once you learn how to use that camera
I agree with chris . What beautiful undercarriage. The idea to carry the color over from the top to the bottom was very impressive! _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

I tuned the steel up with Martin's help today and played it for about an hour.
It really has that ShoBud sound and the sustain on it was something to behold.
It still needs some tweaking as he doesn't have it fully completed yet, but it is beautiful nonetheless.
He is starting on mine Monday and I can't wait to have it in my home and out to play on gigs.
I'm not using the back neck on my SuperPro and Legrande II with this band so the single neck is just all I need. No I'm not selling my othr two.

Why can't you extend the pad to the endplate (on the changer end) ?
It would be more comfortable to play, IMHO |

Richard, I believe that Martin is of the same thinking as me here. My reason for not extending it all the way to the end at the key head is that I love the look of wood so much that I feel it takes away from the overall look by putting vinyl over top of it You notice that I start my pad at the 10th string. Martin takes this one step further and only extends the pad to the right as needed, thereby exposing more beautiful wood
Also, note that Martin said that the pad was just laid on there for taking the pic. _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Bent is correct in all respects. The fretboard is just sitting there, not taped down. I usually make my fretboards just long enough to be effective at my normal sitting position. I like as much wood as possible to show. The one I'm making for this one will be black, or a matching blue. Martin. _________________ Several custom steels. NV-112 Boss DD-7 |

Hey Martin what a neat twist to consider making the pad blue. It will be a first and maybe not liked by all right away. But that idea is in keeping with your color scheme so far, with the blue underneath.
Say, the blue underneath looks like felt ( I see a dent in pic#3. It would be added cushioning when the KL/pedal stop returns. Super quiet...
But then again, maybe the stop will wear thru the felt in no time, leaving holes. I guess a picture can fool ya. Let us know what you did there _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Bent, that is blue flocking and it is quite rugged. The "dent" you see is a countersunk screw that holds the two deck boards together along with glue. I probably should have filled those in with a wood putty. there are 7 of those screws on the bottom. I have flocked all but one of my guitars and so far have not had any problem with the flocking.
