Wondering if anyone has done a string spacing mod on a Gold Tone 6 string? I like the tone of the guitar and it's easy to travel with, but it sure screws me up going from my Pedal Steel, or Remington String Master to the Gold Tone. If I could mod the spacing easily I am interested in doing so.
Any ideas would be appreciated. It appears that the Gold Tone is about 1/16" wider in spacing than the other two guitars.
Second questions does the Gold Tone 8 String have the same spaceing?
Any help would be great.

You'd need to replace the bridge and the pickup and the plate the pickup rides in (or at least modify how the pickup mounts.) I've put a Fender Noiseless tele pickup in mine before, but didn't really like the tone much (too shrill).
I would recommend working on becoming spacing-insensitive instead of trying to mod the steel. I can move between any of my guitars, steel or standard, with very little adjustment time. I think it's a useful skill, especially if you play multiple instruments! _________________ Primitive Utility Steel |

Thanks Twayn. I'll give it a try. I don't play the Gold Tone much, just when I travel.
