I'm interested in a Sparkle Drive if anyone has one, let me know. I have Up From the Top Courses for sale and would be willing to work out a trade or buy at a reasonable price.

Just got one for 80$. That seems to be about the going rate. New for around
130$ on ebay .. I purchased it for my tele not for my steel.. the clean boost is
great .. the distortion is a bit grainy but useable in small doses. I have a OCD which is a lot better distortion than the sparkle YMMV.

I agree on the grainy distortion, but it can work great for steel if dialed back a bit and blended with a good amount of the clean tone. I set the distortion at about 2 o'clock, its tone at about 1 o'clock, and the clean level at about 11 (o'clock, not Nigel's "eleven"Rolling Eyes). They have a whole lot of output gain - I set that at 9:30-10 o'clock. They are hardwire bypassed, so there's no tone change when "off".

Yesterday I tried a Sparkle Drive with the "Keeley mod" (they're no longer doing pedal mods though) and found it to have more bottom end in both the clean and distortion sounds, and less grain (more "tube overdrive", less "fizz"), but I think I actually prefer the original for what I'm looking for. Your results may vary, of course...

I just thought i'd give it a try for both steel and tele. I've heard good and bad things about it. $80 is what I'm willing to give. Hopefully from someone in the mid state area that i can meet so I don't have to pay shipping. My wife's diesel bug gets 45 mpg, so I can go meet within an hour cheaper than shipping.

I think it's just a tube screamer with a clean boost and a blend knob... right?

Best thing about the unit is that there is a knob that lets you dial back in some clean signal. Very usuable. Let me look and see if I still have mine. I bought a bunch of POD stuff and don't use it any more. Back to you in a few.

No worries Bill. Someone else will turn up with one. I'm in no big hurry, just want something to fool around with.
