Does anybody know of any place in the Phoenix area where steel is part of the services? I'm a Unitarian, so it can be any religion--I like them all. Any type of music is also good because I like them all, too. Even hip hop, if Robert Randolph is playing or Nicole C. Mullen is singing.

Good idea, John. I'll bet he knows of something. It sure would be great if he plays in church.

Hey Darryl,

I don't know if anyone has a steady in church locally but I play about once every 2-months at Phoenix 1st. It's a good band and they have a fairly elaborate multi-media and sound setup. They seem to do a lot of material in the Hillsong and Israel (Houghton) direction. Their website is www.phoenixfirst.org

I've been to Phoenix First a couple of times in the last 3 years, I wish you had played when I was there Mike. They have a million dollar Meyer sound system, and it sounds really good. They do the kind of contemporary music we do in our church in Austin, and I'm privileged to get to play steel every Sunday. We're considerably smaller than Phoenix First, we run 1500 to 1800 on Sunday mornings.

Hey Darvin,

I think the first time I played at Phoenix 1st was this last summer and I've played a half-dozen or so times since. We live close by and T's son is the assistant drama director there so we started attending. I'm normally a smaller church kind-of guy but they do such an incredible job here in the community that we both felt compelled to be there. It's always fun to play there (although I've been promised everytime to get my own Aviom box for my in-ears and it never seems to happen Smile ...it would be nice to hear what's going on)

That style would be great to see.

I've seen you in Cave Creek, but I didn't even know about Phoenix First. That's quite an organization and website they have. When you are scheduled to play there, will the date and time be given on your site? Or maybe theirs?

I'm not scheduled coming up but typically they call with less than a weeks notice. I'll definately list it in our schedule but I doubt they'll mention it on theirs (T and I did a few hours of Country outdoors for their Independence Day Celebration and the extent of our mention was "live music..." Smile But, the last time I played, Paster Barnett made a point of coming over afterwards and saying how much he enjoyed the steel...maybe I'll get honorable mention next time. Very Happy
