flying's a pain. train takes forever. I'm in NYC area. Drive is roughly 1000 miles, about 16 h. 1 long day's drive?

My car is OK, we can split gas and save a few hundred bucks?

I want to be there in time for Thurs AM programs. Assuming we can make it in 1 day (3 drivers makes the 1 day trip easier), we should leave Wed bright and early. It's a Volvo xc70, a wagon, so rear seats are fairly comfortable. I have no other takers at this point, so the answer to the 2nd question is yes.
