Someone just told me they were heading south of Ft. Worth, Tx. this thursday nite for Rays last show, that he was hanging it up. Anyone heard about this? I think he is 83 now, what a great selection of shuffle dance music he has given us through the years, not to mention some of the greatest steelers in the world to enjoy. Thank you Ray for all the years of great music you brought us.

A quick check on www.pollstar.com shows Ray with quite a few more bookings, including Jan. 16, 2010, at the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale, FL. I am planning to attend!

I realize that health issues, family issues, etc., can arise, and that bookings can be canceled. It is possible that he may, indeed, be retiring. But, I'd sure like to see The Chief and his Cherokee Cowboys again - just a couple of days before his 84th birthday.

Ray, will play at Willies place the 24th and then has several more shows after that. He was on Bill Macks radio show last week and said he was going to sing as long as the good Lord will let him. His health is coming back and he is feeling good. God bless him for what he has done for country music...Ron

Definately not! Heard an interview with Mr. Price yesterday on Willie's Place XM 13. He was about to do a thing in Nashville, I believe, then mentioned several dates in TX in the coming days. Very interesing history of the "Price contribution" to country music.

John LeMaster is correct in citing a Ray Price concert 'way down the road.

However................

I certainly do not mean to appear morbid but neither Ray nor I are getting any younger - he 83 and I 10 years his junior at 73. Given that, I'm jumping at the chance to see him here in Nashville on 10/2/09. We can't afford to run all over the countryside in order to catch him in concert. This may be - heaven forbid - our last chance to see him. Let us hope not.

Funny, I always thought of him as "retired" when Buddy left his band to play with Roger Miller. Winking
